Do your grapevines look like this? These are leaves on our very old
grapevine on the western side of the barn. Unfortunately, western grapeleaf skeletonizers have been snacking on it. This is what they look like while attacking your
grapes:
After voraciously feeding, they eventually transform into this moth.
If you see evidence of these, I would advise treating
immediately. They can wipe out your entire vine. The best treatment is called B.t., and organic insecticide that targets only caterpillars and worms. It’s a bacteria that is fatal to the
skeletonizer. It will not harm any order of insect besides caterpillars, so you don’t have to worry about your ladybugs or bees with this one.
